11/09/08 - Victory is mine

Finally, vindication. Proof that all of the yelling and complaining and trading players and going for it on fourth down and controller throwing and sometimes letting a curse slip out (sorry =/) is worth it. It took me seven games, but I finally got a win on Madden 08's "All-Madden" difficulty level. It wasn't even close, which is fitting because most of my other games this season haven't been close either. It also felt good because I was playing the Minnesota Vikings, my dad's favorite team and division rival to my favorite, the Green Bay Packers (even though I'm playing as the Atlanta Falcons in this game). Some statistical highlights:

-36 carries for 208 rushing yards as a team. Up to this point, my team's rushing offense had been so bad that I traded my top two running backs for two different running backs in hopes of getting something going.

-Seven interceptions as a team. In the other six games this season, the team combined for five.

-My quarterback, Caz Nelson, threw three touchdowns. Up to this game, he had thrown four the entire season.

-My starting running back, Lewis Brown, after missing the past two or three games (I can't remember which) had 13 carries for 37 yards and four catches for 109 yards and a touchdown.

-Prior to the game, I made two lineup changes, starting Amos Washington over Victor Washington at right tackle and Rob Lopez over Stephen Maguire at the second cornerback slot. Washington led the team in pancake blocks with seven and allowed no sacks, and Lopez was second on the team with five tackles and also had an interception. He did allow three catches, but none of them were bombs for touchdowns like Maguire allowed every game.

-Before the game, I was scoring 22 points per game and giving up 35. The final score of this game? Falcons 55, Vikings 28.

The win only brings me up to 1-6, but man does it feel good. =)
