Maybe you know and maybe you don't, but I'm attempting to teach myself how to play the bass guitar. The one I have is a five string Squier by Fender jazz bass, but as for the specific model, I have no clue. Sorry. It's blue, and that's good enough for me.

I haven't gotten very far with learning the basic music theory I need to be able to just sit around and make up my own tunes (and actually have them sound good), but I have been using tabcrawler.com to look up tabs to songs I know fairly well that have good bass lines to learn how to play them. I started with "X-Static" by Foo Fighters because it's incredibly simple but still a great song, and since then I've been working on (in chronological order) Nine Inch Nails' "The Hand That Feeds," The Beatles' "I'll Follow The Sun," Foo Fighters' "Big Me," and Eagles of Death Metal's "Flames Go Higher," with "Big Me" being the one I'm best at so far. Not coincidentally, it's also my favorite to play.

In addition to practicing those songs and trying to get better at music theory, my short term goal is to learn how to play every song on Foo Fighters' self-titled debut album (which "Big Me" and "X-Static" are included on). Maybe I'll have it down by Christmas if I'm lucky. I'll keep you updated. ;)
